Dhuljanah (Arabic: ذو الجناح‎) was the horse of Husayn ibn Ali. The original name of Dhuljanah was Murtajiz and Maymoon and the reason for it being named that way was because of its sound of neighing being sweet, furious and high making it different from other horses. It was purchased by the Islamic prophet, Muhammad, from an Arab called Haris. It features prominently in the traditional narrating of the story of the Battle of Karbala and it is thought to have been a white stallion. (Wikipedia)

Zuljanah – The horse of Imam Hussain a.s.

Zuljinah is a very special character in Karbala. It was the horse of Imam Hussain (A.S) that was with Him at the moment of His shahadat. Islamic history is full of various narrations regarding Zuljinah. The real name of Zujinah was ‘Murtajiz’. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) bought Zuljanah from an Arab named Haris. When Imam Hussain (A.S) got injured at the time of Karbala battle, Zuljinah turned around Him to keep the enemy forces away from His body. and he himself was very injured but he did not left the Imam Mazloom Hussain A.S.
